朱彤简介：毕业于中国外交学院的外交部年轻的翻译，在传媒面前一直保持着低调。她在随朱鎔基出任总理的新闻发布会上，她的突出表现锦上添花。其父母均从事英语教学与研究，从小的耳濡目染及后来的刻苦学习造就了今天的优异的翻译官。这次现场发布会是对一个翻译人员的知识面、表达能力、反应能力的一次严峻考验，而她的翻译流利得体，获得一致的好评。
吴小莉：谢谢。首先，我要谢谢朱总理。我必须这样说，您也是我的偶像。大家好，我是香港凤凰卫视中文台的吴小莉。想要请教朱总理的是，我们知道，在亚洲的金融风暴当中，香港的影响在今天已经陆续显现了，尤其在今年上半年的过程当中，最近，香港的失业率也创了一年半来的新高。想要请教的是，在中央政府对于香港经济的困难和困境的时候，会采取什么样的具体措施来加以支持。另外，海外媒体对您的评价相当的高，外界有人说你是“铁面宰相”或者是“经济沙皇”。有您的铁腕政策之下，我们知道，外传在您进行一些国有企业改革的过程中，也有一些对您的家人一些不方便和困扰，想请您谈一下您在进行改革过程当中的一些心路历程。有没有曾经想过沮丧、想要放弃过。
朱彤：Thank you, Premier Zhu, I must tell you that you are also my idol. I’m from Phoenix, Hong Kong. You know, the effect on HK of the financial crisis in Southeast Asia, has begun to show, especially in the first half of this year. The unemployment rate in HK is the highest over the past on and a half years. So my first question is what specific measures would the central government adopt if the Hong Kong economy were to face difficulties. And the second question, you know the foreign media have very high, have spoken very highly of you and they call you a poker-faced Prime minister or economic czar. And we also know that in the course of the reform of the macro-regulation and the control and the reform of the government institutions, there have been some inconveniences or some troubles caused to your families. Can you tell us have you ever felt depressed or frustrated and have you ever thought of giving up all this?
朱鎔基：首先，从去年的亚洲发生的金融危机以来，特别是十月份，大概是月号，香港发生了股灾。 但是，由于香港的经济结构比较完善，香港的经济实力比较强大，有980亿美元的外汇储备，再加上 香港特区政府领导有方，措施得力，迄今为止，香港已经克服了一个又一个的困难。
朱彤：Since the financial crisis in Asia last year, and especially since the stock market crashing Hong Kong on the 24th of October last year, thanks to the sound economic structure and fairly strong economic power, and a very large foreign exchange reserve of 98 billion US dollars in Hong Kong, and also thanks to the leadership exercised by the Hong Kong SAR government, Hong Kong has overcome one difficulty after another.
朱鎔基：但是如果在特定的情况下，万一香港政府需要中央政府的帮助的时候，只要香港特区行政政府向中国中央政府提出要求，中央政府将不惜一切代价维护香港的繁荣稳定，保护它的联系汇率制度。
朱彤：But, if the Hong Kong SAR government were to need the support from the central government, in an exceptional case or under exceptional circumstances, then as long as the Hong Kong SAR government filed a request with the central government of China, the central government of China would spare no effort and would spare no cost to maintain the prosperity and the stability of Hong Kong and to maintain the link system between the Hong Kong dollar and the US dollar.
朱鎔基：至于我本人没有什么好说的。对于外界叫我“中国的戈尔巴乔夫”也好，叫我“经济沙皇”也好，叫我什么东西也好，我都不高兴。
朱彤:As for myself, I don’t have much to say. Whatever the foreign media call me, call me a Chinese Gorbachev or economic Czar or anything else, I’m not happy about that.
朱镕基：是不是可以请钱其琛副总理作一点补充呢。
朱彤：I want to ask Vice Premier Qian Qi-chen to add a few things.
钱其琛：任何一个内阁里面有人在前苏联留过学或者是在其他国家留过学，就认为这个内阁一定是对哪个国家怎么样，我看这个逻辑不存在。我们中国的内阁都是不管从哪里学习回来的，有什么经验都是中国的内阁。
朱彤：I don't,we don't have such a logic that in a cabinet if one member or several members have been studied in former Soviet Union or in any other countries,then this cabinet will be pro-Soviet Union or pro-any coutry.We don't have this logic.I think no matter where the members of the cabinet once studied or what experience the members of the cabinet used to have,this cabinet is the cabinet of China.
